Anyone know why "Windows 98" denies access to the CD-ROM drive, even after the correct driver is installed .......?

Thanks -- Any advice is appreciated.

Ummm... more info needed, dude. There are literally hundreds of reasons that it could be that way. Tell me more about why it happened, what you were doing, etc.

I'm working on my parents' computer --
After the initial installation of WINDOWS 98 from WINDOWS 95, only the Floppy & HardDrive are recognized -- Not reading any CD --
If the CD won't work, I'll copy the set-up files onto disks to transfer to HardDrive ...
Modem isn't working either & No network connection .......

You are still not giving me any information about the computer. Is the drive enabled in the BIOS? Do you have the cables in correctly? Can you see the drive when booting from a DOS system disk? I can't help you unless you give me some system specifications and what you were doing when it died. Did you reinstall the OS? What happened?

Actually the reason why is because Microsoft is working with the government on a secret project that will shut down all the cd-rom drives in the world so everyone will come crying to the govt and they will act like gods and fix it. hahahahahaha... they are soooo clever.
