Default Soundblaster Live Value! in Windows XP

I'm having a difficult time with my Soundblaster Live! Value in Windows XP. My CPU utilization is frickin' nuts. I lose 20 FPS in Quake3 and Rocet Arena 3 when sound is enabled. I tried installing the windows 2000 drivers. I decreased the Hardware audio acceleration to "BASIC" and "GOOD" audio quality under multimedia properties. This is very frustrating as I'm getting a cubic assload more FPS in Windows 2000 PRO. Please gimme some ideas how to decrease CPU utilization.
