Computer downloads get confused Sometimes I download zip files and at the end of the file it's .rar. I have 'show extensions' turned off but it's still recognized by the computer as an .rar even though it's a .zip and the .rar ending on the file is just really part of the file name. Why does this happen to me? |
Re: Computer downloads get confused maybe it is because you use WinRAR for opening .zip docs. And why is it that a problem? If oyu have Winrar you can open both. |
Re: Computer downloads get confused Why not ? I mean, someone very well may put a ZIP in a RAR file and decide to name the resulting file .rar.zip , just the same as .tar.gz are gziped .tar files ... Also, if you have WinRAR installed and associated to ZIP archives, it will probably tell you that's a "WinRAR archive" file type, just meaning it will open with WinRAR (even though that's not actually a .RAR file). |
Re: Computer downloads get confused if you can unzip it, there is no real problem, you can also rename them as you like |
Re: Computer downloads get confused I don't see the problem here...they're both compressed files...they are both opened with WinRAR...what's supposed to be wrong? |
