Try to update your DVD-rom driver

A-well-a everybody's heard about the bird
B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word

Also, I use the word "also" a lot.

Go to start -> Run and write "msinfo32.exe" in the run bar. Press enter and then go to Components ->CD Rom and check at the "Transfer rate" says "not available". If it does, the CD reader is faulty, but if it says xxxx kb/sec then the CD reader can read the CD, but something else is blocking it. Maybe the CD is weird.

If this is only occurs on newer CD/DVDs, update your DVD-Rom driver as Noobst3R said. Also make sure that it can read DVDs .

Do you know where I could find drivers for it? Ive tried using the update driver wizard (surprise), it didnt find anything.

Ahh, Ive give that a try too Juggernut, thanks. Im pretty sure it can run DvDs cuz Ive used past PC-DvDs. Just the newer ones like AoC and Warhammer that I have problems with.

Is it possible that the DVD could be dual-layer? I don't really know alot about DVD drives as I have a problem my self, but it's just a suggestion.

Could you please tell us the brand of the DVD-Rom. If you bought your computer finish built, you might have a CD rom for the network driver and other necessary drivers. Check that aswell.

Old(er) DVD drives can`t read dual-layer discs, so that could be the problem. Updating drive`s firmware helps sometimes. How old is your DVD drive anyway?

I'm pretty sure it should say somewhere on the disc saying if it's dual-layer or not. Or you could check your DVD drive to see if it reads DL, either should say on the front of the drive or you could google the model number or brand name.

Apparently it can handle dual layer, and Lightscribe is just a writing option, but you could try to update it here: LightScribe - Downloads - Windows

Im not sure if that will solve it, but you can report when you can get the real brand of the burner.
