Default Old topic, I know... Voodoo3 or TNT2

I'm looking to upgrade my standard ATI rage pro graphics card. I don't want to spend much more than $100, so it seems like the best options are the Voodoo3 or a TNT2.

My concerns...

Is the 256x256 texture limit on the voodoo3 very significant?

Is 32 bit processing noticeable?

Speed difference in d3D and OpenGL?

How much better does the TNT2 look?

I'm running a 350 mhz with 96 Mb of ram. I mostly play half-life and UT, but I also play a variety of other non FPS games. Which one will be better for me? I'm looking closely at the Guillemot Xentor for the TNT2 option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I were you I would choose the tnt2, just make sure it isn't an m64 version cuz that sucks. The framerates of the two cards are comparable. The only draw back from the V3 is it only has 16-bit colors....ugly 16-bit color at that. The TNT2 has much better 16-bit output and also supports 32-bits.
Get the TNT2.....you wont regret it.

UT is a glide game just telling you, lol. Get the v3. i got the v3 but the two cards are both great. thier is nothing wrong with the v3 16-bit and remember the v3 has one of the best 2d graphics on most cards. But it is up to you . IF you get a tnt2 get the TNT2 ULTRA with the higher Mhz and memory. thats it it's up to you

UT really does prefer a V3, so if you play it a lot, go for the V3.
Excluding that, the TNT2 is far more versatile. It's all a question of what you will be using it for.

How about trying to find a cheap GEO256 SDR. At lower resolutions they're about as fast as a DDR and will completely paste a V3/TNT2.
