Default New system!

I am now in a very ... very happy mood because my old dinosaur has finally been replaced by a new system (parent-funded!)

My old system:
P II 400
Abit BX6 Rev 2.0
192MB PC-133 SDRAM
8.4GB HD - How did i survive!?
5x DVD
Diamond Viper V550 16mb AGP
SB Live!
H+ Decoder Card
33.6k Modem

The new system, which i got my olds to pay for:
P3 1GHz
256MB PC-133
Asus CUSL2-C
H+ Decoder
Pioner 106s 16x Slot DVD
Sony CRX160S 32/12/8 CDRW
40GB IBM 60GXP HD - I strongly recommend this drive - V. quiet, reliable and fast
Asus V7100 Magic GeForce 2 MX
SB Live! Value
NetComm Roadster II USB 56k HARDWARE modem - V. Interesting - a USB Hardware modem... time will tell! (BTW For you Yankies NetComm is an australian company so u wouldn't have heard of it)

Anyway so that's my new system and i'm *Very* happy with it!

Can anyone tell me how to display FPS in quake 3 or how to benchmark it? (I haven't played many games in the last 2 years cause of my slow dinosaur!)

I'd appreciate any other tweaking tips aswell

The only thing left to to is buy a Super Orb dual fan CPU cooler..

Hey Kudos Man,
I just recently stepped outta the darkness as well. To B'Mark Q3, open up the console with the ~ key. To display fps type "/cg_drawfps 1", if you want to use the built in demos to b'mark, type "/timedemo 1" at the console, then run the demo's. If you patch q3a to 127 (i think thats the newest one), there's another command line that you will have to type to run the demo's, but I have long since forgotten what that is...sorry! If you are still using the outta the box q3a, you should just be able to choose the demo you want from the menu screen...(this is after you entered the timedemo command), run the demo, then when its finished hit the console key again to display the results. Have fun, and remember, a benchmark is just a benchmark, 3d mark 2000 and 2001 is not a game, as long as you can enjoy the game, a benchmark dosen't really matter.
