3Dfx Velocity 100 - Glide problem

I have experienced strange problem in some games that use Glide. There are horizontal strips all over the screen in e.g. Summoner, Rayman 2,... Unreal Tournament works without problems. Any clues?

Hmmm... Are these horizontal strips much like an occasional "flickering"?

If so, try the following:

1) Update both the drivers & Glide
2) *After* doing that, re-install DirectX (7.x or 8.x)

If the problem persists, please post again with yer system specs.

Ah... 'course, ye better check how yer refresh rates are configured. If ye can't see anything on the screen cause 'tis garbaged by the "horizontal strips", then 'tis a refresh rate problem.

To solve this, ye must manually set the refresh rate on the driver's Control Panel. 60Hz is the standard fer almost any monitor around, though ye should know which refresh rates yer monitor support.

Keep in mind that normally D3D, OpenGL and even Glide games use the desktop's refresh rate for any given resolution, however, ye can override this via Control Panel or... There are some cool utilities fer 3dfx cards. One of them is the famous "Gary's Voodoo 3 Overclocker", which lets ye to configure the Refresh Rates manually. At one time the older drivers fer the Voodoo Graphics/Voodoo 2 had the Refresh Rate setup somewhere in the driver's Control Panel, but it was removed in later versions.

Anyways, check out http://x3dfx.com, or search fer that Gary's Overclockin' utility.

Ah, and try to change the video mode at which those games are trying to run, if possible. For example, Unreal's default is 512x384; some video card/CRT combos don't like that resolution.
