Default Is my V770 fried?

I was busy playing a game the other day and the screen scrambled and went back as it was. I quit the game and the desktop had messed up. Icons at the sides had got thinner horizontally with the text closer placed than those in the centre of the screen. The card is a Diamond V770 Ultra, previously clocked to 160MHz core and 190Mhz memory (caused no problems until now). There was a brief smell like if you short a cell, but I don't know if that was someone beside me cooking something else. The monitor is a Hansol 710D 17" (brand new).

Anyone got any suggestions as to what this is and how I can solve it? Is it time to buy a new card?
