Default PC vs Consoles

Ok.... Well ive been looking all over the web to see a console vs pc comparison ...( not like how it looks but an actual hardware comparison) I know the 360 runs with a 3.2ghz tri-core but where does the graphics line up ( ie compare it to an actual pc GPU like 8600gt or such) and how about the ps3 and im not even gunna ask about the wii (no offense)
So basically i want a rundown of the hardware of consoles compared to real pc parts...? Any Help?

360 has 512MB Ram, PS3 I believe has 1GB
PS3 has a 7 core cpu, but it doesn't actually run as such, CPU wise, the PS3 is no better then the 360, which has a three core

The PS3 I think has a 2600xt? Or similar from memory.

Don't really know, all I care is consoles suck and will never be better then PC's

I think the PS3 has a Over clocked version of the 7900GT.

The GPU is the Xbox 360 is roughly equivalent to a Radeon X1950XT from what i've seen.

I think the PS3 GPU is basically a modified 7900GT, or 7800GTX.

The Wii's GPU seems to be around the power of a Radeon 9800 Pro (or Geforce FX 5800/5900) from what a quick google search tells me.

The hardware isn't that important, because consoles get optimised, whereas PCs expect an upgrade.

So a developer will spend time tweaking a game to the console's specific needs and hardware, because they only need to work with one set of specifications.

In short, its not how much you've got, its how you use it. Consoles use it far, far better.

I know the 6600GT wasn't much faster than the 9800XT, so the regular 6600 would probably be equal to the 9800 Pro.

The regular non-GT 6600 is about the same as the high end 5900 cards IIRC, so i would say you could compare the Wii GPU to a 9800Pro/Geforce 5900/6600.

There I must disagree, the 6600 performs quite a bit better then the 5900 does BF2 on highest with 2*AA compared to BF2 on medium with no AA (1280*1024 and 1024*768 respectivly)

According to Custom PC
PCs versus consoles | Features | Custom PC
the 360 has an ATI Xenos GPU (which is an early version of a 2900 or with almost the same specs) and the PS3 has the equivelent of a 7800GTX, which is provided by Nvidia. Though it doesn't really analyse the WII GPU too much, ATI provide its GPU too.

Its a good article which goes on to look at resolutions etc as well.

Neither console produces bad-looking graphics, but if you have a decent PC and monitor, it's unlikely that you'll be impressed by a PS3 or 360 game. In particular, if you're used to gaming above 1,280 x 1,024 with AA and AF, you'll notice both 360 and PS3 games suffer from horrible aliasing. In Call of Duty 4, power lines, vehicles, buildings shimmer and crawl so vigorously that it might actually make you skin creep too. At first, we thought that this aliasing was noticeable only because we knew it wasn't there when we played the game on a PC with AA enabled, but even in the console-only titles, we found that the aliasing problem was obvious.

Several factors make aliasing noticeable on the consoles. The first is the fact that while 720p counts as HD in the lounge, at 1,280 x 720, it's a low resolution by PC standards. This small number of pixels is then also usually spread out over at least a 26in screen, so each pixel is bigger than those on a PC display, where 1,280 x 1,024 is confined to 17 or 19in panels. Finally, there's the fact that while the consoles might be outputting a 720p signal, the games are often rendered at lower resolution and upscaled just prior to output. The forums of 3D tech site Beyond 3D (The Neverending Upscale Discussion Thread * Summary=#457 - Beyond3D Forum) are buzzing with pages of detailed discussion, but suffice to say on 360 and PS3, Call of Duty 4 is rendered initially at just 1,024 x 600.

I think would be the best way to look at it.

PC's are always going to have the option for upgrade, but I guess your question was the difference in hardware

I also had the same question before, thanks for asking it first
Which is pretty much summed up in the article posted before.
