whats with computers dying today?
 

ok, i think all computers are rebelling against me...
last night my desktop was givin me problems (that i fixed)
my one friends computer wouldnt start (which i also fixed)
my ubuntu on my laptop is having problems
and my other friends computer has a TON of spyware on it i need to fix


anyway my room mate informed me about an hour ago his laptop wouldnt start so im like :Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored: :Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored::Censored: GAHH!!!

anyway after my cursing fit i looked at it, i couldnt start windows in regular mode, got it to boot safe mode twice, now it wont boot that
so i start doing system diagnostics off of a boot cd i have
motherboard, processor, ram, all test fine
go to test the hard drive with a generic tester and says read fail
look at the model to perform a more advanced test just to be sure and its a seagate
so i open up seatools and it doesnt even recognize theres a drive in the computer


so basically im pretty sure the hd died, but im really hoping im wrong to help out my room mate

p.s another reason i think the hd died is because about a week ago he was having BAD heat issues until i FORCED him to blow out the dust with canned air (he was gettin about 18 fps on counterstrike on low, after we did that he was getting about 70 on high, thats what i mean by heat issues)

It happens. This past summer, I had a long week of bad PC luck:

--My 7900GT died, so I RMA'd it.
--Using my Daughter's pc as I waited, her 6600GT died 3 days later
--2 days later, her motherboard died.
--That night, my Mother's HDD crashed (was able to recover the data)
--The dog ate one of my wireless keyboards (not really a PC crash, but it was the same week lol)

I think some other bizarre PC related stuff happened then too. It was slightly frustrating to say the least!

lol yea, i went onto the tech chat with dell, which was actually A LOT less painful then i thought it was going to be
told them what i did, and the results
they had me run one more of their tests then totally agreed with me and are covering the new hard drive under warrenty

That was pretty much my reaction too! :Puzzled:

And yes, I do occasionally feed my dog actual food, but only if I run out of peripherals & bits.
