Default New problem.. with dll's?

The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll occupied an address range reserved for Windows systems DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

sigh.. it's just one problem after another with this computer. anyone know how i can fix this one? i couldn't find any updates or hotfixes that work.

Default Re: New problem.. with dll's?

there is another person posting the EXACT same problem, but i think for a different reason, and a program called lastFM is giving it to him
i'll give you the same advice i gave him

" i would try repairing the windows files
put in your xp cd, and boot from it, next hit 'r' for repair, select your version of windows you want to work on (as long as you dont have a dual boot it will only give you one option) next enter the administrator password if it asks
now type in the following command
chkdsk c: /r
this will run the standard check disk (which normally is a waste of time because it usually says "found errors" and doesnt do anything
however with the xp cd in and the /r command if it finds errors if it can it fixes them with the files off the disk

hopefully that should work, or at least its a good place to start"

You could try the chkdsk /f switch. You will have to allow it to restart the computer, just like if you used the /r switch. But I know that the /f switch does not need the windows disc (atleast I've never had to use it).

Unless you installed that program then it is not causing any problems.

What I'm saying is...

Click Start -> Run... Then type in "cmd" without the quotes and press enter. Then type in "chkdsk /f" without the quotes; it should ask you if you want to schedule the check to run on the next restart, respond with yes, then restart the computer.

To reiteriate what I posted on the other thread:-
Quote:
KB935448

If that fails remove hotfix ms07-017 and then reboot and it *should* fix it.
Its a known issue with windows and there is a Microsoft Hotfix available.
