V3 using V5 drivers I read that someone tried using the new DX8 compatible Voodoo 5 drivers with his Voodoo 3 after installing DX8. He said it worked good. Has anyone else tried this? And what about this DX8 uninstaller? Does it work? There was an uninstaller floating around a few DX versions ago that didn't exactly work as intended. Any comments would be appreciated. |
I would not recommend using the V5 driver on a V3. I've heard it does work BUT it's not designed for it and it can't possibly give you any better performance than the driver designed for it. Avoid installing Dx 8 until you have a game that requires it (none do). There's been a lot of issues with DX 8 (this always happens with new versions until the drivers are tweaked for it). Here's a DX8 compliant uninstaller if you need it: http://www.tweaktown.com/downloads/dxun.zip Here's a link to Dx 7.0a: http://mssjus.www.conxion.com/downlo...US/dx7aeng.exe ------------------ The Flying Penguin :) http://TheFlyingPenguin.com |
I've tried the new V5 drivers on my V3 3000 AGP and they work fine. I also have DX8 final build installed. Very good video quality but no speed improvements, maybe a little slower but I haven't benchmarked them. I'd try Omegadriver's or Bassett's tweaked drivers to get the best of both worlds. They combine the V5 with the V3 drivers to get the best performance and quality. I'd also recommend the WickedGL driver for certain OpenGL games.Hope this helps. bittermann |
Hi Bitterman! I was wondering, where I can get those Bassetts voodoo drivers? |
