Wtf is with my dvd burner Ever since I got my new computer, my DVD+-RW that performed flawlessly on my crappy e-machines cant seem to read blank CDs/DVDs/anything. It reads discs with data on them, burned or not. But with blank it just says "INSERT A DISC IN D:/ DUR!" ...so what the hell how do fix this |
why do you want to read blank discs?? Can you write them?? |
Check for driver updates, does Windows actually recognize that it can burn? |
Right-click on the drive in question, go to the 'Recording' tab and make sure that 'Enable CD recording on this drive' is ticked. If that isn't it will only ever try to read. If that tab isn't there it means that windows doesn't recognise that the drive can burn CDs. If that is the case you'll want to check drivers, firmware, and if that CD drive can actually burn CDs. |
I cant burn discs if I cant read them... duh. Yes, its a DVD burner, +-, this thing was fucking amazing and now i cant use it. But to the last post, I dont see arecording tab anywhere, where do I right click this? (Im running vista ultimate 64) |
Click into your "My Computer" and make sure that it recognizes the drive correctly, just cause you know it can burn, doesn't mean windows does. It should look something like this... Spoiler: The Fact that it says my DVD drives are DVD-RW and DVD-RAM, shows that windows correctly recognizes them. Other than that, look in your device manager, pull down the DVD/CD-ROM Drives tab and make sure that everything looks correct, if there is an exclamation mark above the drive, that would explain why it isn't working correctly. |
it's the drivers |
Okay, its the drivers but Icant find a place to get them. It's a Samsung TS-H552B DVD+-RW... cant find anything. Can anyone help out? *EDIT* I downloaded two drivers, but they're .bin and MagicISO/powerISO cannot open them. What gives |
Have you tried Samsung's site? And where did you download them in a .bin format? Here... This is straight from Samsung's site, hopefully that will fix it for you. download center SAMSUNG |
Thanks! ...But it didnt work. I have Vista ultimate x64. I opened it as XP Sp2 and installed, then reset. Nothing. |
