Default Cracking .Dat Files

Firstly im not looking to crack any copywrited software or anything.

I have a file on my cpu that was compiled into a .dat file, this is a game file, it contains dll files and 3d data files. ive been trying to open it up but however my friend packed it i cant seem to get this sucker unpacked. i can open it with a hex editor but that gets me nowhere b/c i need the 3d model data from the file. if anyone knows how to crack this kind of file (its not a standard .dat file) or who would like to take a go at it please e-mail me at masterjts@excite.com or post how to do it here. ive tried the siera .dat file cracker for use with nascar games but they did not work.

thanks in advance.
