Default Screen Flickers! Can't find display drivers

I installed a new graphics card, but I was told that I had to delete the old drivers. I couldn't find them, so I installed the new drivers. Now the monitor flickers whenever I try to do the following: Change Screen resolution, change the desktop backround, click on "properties" for my computer and whenever I try to play a game. I'm getting real tired and frustrated now. The drivers won't show up in the Add/Remove option in the control panel. I really don't want to take it to a local computer store, so that I have to pay $60 an hour for them to take a 3 hour lunch break, and then 15 minutes on fixing the problem. Any help/advice?

this is what happens when I try to start one of the simplest games on my computer... Solitare.

I have a Nvidia 8500 gt... 8500! Why is this happening!?!

Maybe the CD the drivers came from was kind of messed up. So I went directly to the BFG graphics card site and got the drivers there. I followed all the steps, untill this happened...

there is something wrong here. What is it?

I'm guessing its a corrupted file. I'm not sure as to whats going on but thats my best guess. I recommend calling your GC manufacturers customer support. It might not be available. Also use the E-mail help at Find Answers (Page 1 of 26)

You can start off by following these steps. Hopefully they won't cause you anymore trouble that you already have.

1) Uninstall all programs relating to your GC
2) Shut down computer
3) Remove your GC
4) Turn on PC
5) Check to see if onboard video is working. You may have to Enable your onboard video card via the Device Manager.
6) Run a registry cleaning program to remove unnecessary files
7) Shut down PC
8) Follow steps provided by the manufacturer to install the GC
9) Go to the manufacturers website (link is below)
10) Download and install your new driver
11) If problem persists contact nVidia for support

If what I provided above causes more problems or makes you system inoperable I apologize for that. Like I said, I'm not sure what your problem is.

ForceWare Release 162

Thats the driver you need. If thats what you used before try it again.

Hope this helps.

LEAVE THE STEPS ABOVE AS A LAST RESORT!!!! CONTACT

YOUR GCs MANUFACTURER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO

YOUR COMPUTER!!!! IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG IT

CAN VOID BOTH YOUR COMPUTERS AND THE GCs

WARRANTY!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Cheers,
David (a.k.a. GateCrusher420)

That's one of may problems, I'm not sure whats related to my GC and what isnt. Another one is that vista won't let me run any driver remover programs. It doesn't even run Firefox! I'm sure there's ways to get around that, but for the time being, I don't know how

Well, like I stated earlier. Try contacting your GCs manfacturer and see if they can help. If not contact Microsoft for some help. If all else fails get out the phone book and look up a local computer repair place.

For those of you whom think Driver Cleaner is too complex to use (I've even heard some say they fear damaging their PC), this is a prime example of how using it can avoid such problems.

DC can be obtained free, works in Safe Mode, and has a Cab Cleaner feature that can revitalize your PC. It also has a drop down list of products it will remove drivers of including all those Nvidia and ATI based. All one need do is follow the readme, select all ATI or Nvidia components in the list depending on what chipset brand you have, and let it do the work.
