Games were smaller at the time, but even now it's enough for Windows Vista, a few big games and some programs. They're also available in 74Gb and 150Gb flavours; which are more practical, but expensive. I have a 150Gb WD Raptor in my machine which cost me about £135 (which is what they cost now, it was only about a month ago). On Sunday I ordered a pair of normal 500Gb drives...for £130.

Oh ok. So maybe if I ever save up for a 74gb one, I would put windows on that and any game that I ALWAYS play(EVE, BF2, Sims 2, etc.) And what I have now keep that for Music, random files, and games I play every now and then. Thanks alot

lol dont know if I will get an answer quick enough, but I will ask and look up online at the same time. I am installing Widnows XP Proffesional. It asks me how to format the drive FAT or NTFS? I actually dont even know what the difference is or if it matters.

EDIT! : in the mean time I made a parition to install windows on, and foramtted the disk to NTFS(normal, not quick) if I made a mistake in either case(of paritioning or NTS you guys will tell me I hope)

lol that is whalol that is what you get for being a noob. I forgot to parition the rest of the Drive so now I only have one parition of 10 GBs(for Windows). I dont know how to partition the rest, or enter that setup which allows me to partition the rest.....so I reformat or something?! Its definatly possible right?

no it's not. Having the one 10,000rpm drive will net you much better results. The two 7200 rpm drives are still reading at 7200 each, not 14400 total.

I'm still too skeptical that RAID is worth it yet for desktop use as the potential for them 'breaking' is still too high for my taste.

Darth, there are a few programs out there that can do that, one of which is fdisk. Only those geeky enough will still know how to use it or run a command shell to execute it.

Another is PartitionMagic. Sadly, it's not free.. however if you tinker with your hard drives quite a bit in terms of managing them, this is the program for you.

Lastly, Windows Installer. When you install windows, and it asks which drive you wish to install it on (not sure how it responds if you only have a single drive, I honestly never had just one) you can repartition it using the built in utility.

Also, always go with NTFS.. FAT32 is old Win98 and not used anymore
