Default Checking before buying (video card)

Hi, as some of you may know, I have been having problems cooling my 2 month old video card which was usually 80C when I was playing. Well finally its fried. It was a ATi Radeon Sapphire X1600 Pro. And also this is my second replacement of this card because the same thing happened with the first. Finally I have decided to dump this piece of crap and get a credit on THIS site. So, what should I get? My slot is AGP and I have a 400 watt power supply. I have a $100-$140 credit (Don't know the actual thing because prices changed) I also saved about $80 to go towards this. I was kind of thinking about THIS card. Could someone please tell me the differences between that Nvidia 7600GS to my X1600 Pro? Better? Slower? Also if the 7600GS isn't a good choice please recommend a new card, on that site of course. Also is the 7600GS known to run hot? If so please mention it.

Well, if both fried, I would believe you have some cooling problems, maybe it's not the card. If you put your hand in your case and it feels hot, there could be some overall ventilation problems...

im looking at the cards and i got too say, that site is a real rip off!!

164 for a 7900GS!! its 124.00 at newegg and thats before a 20 dollar rebate!

but with that aside, i recommend the 7600gs given the required site and budget.

good luck my friend!

Yeah, I would have ordered off Newegg in the first place but I live in Canada and they won't ship it here.

I think the 7600GS would be faster than your old card, but don't expect too see a huge difference. And yes, that site is pretty expensive...

A 7600GS is going to be a bit faster, but from the sounds of it your probably going to end up having the same heat problems. It sounds like your case has terrible airflow, what kind of cooling setup do you have?

You might want to look at getting some more, or some more powerful case fans. Or a better cooler for whatever graphics card you get.

Best quick solution is a 20inch fan on the side of your case with the side panel removed, worked for me

NCIX is a Canadian site mate. Canadian dollars are worth less than American dollars, hence products 'cost' more.
