Uprading PII 200 to AMD Duron 800-900 I want to uprgrade my computer from a Intel PII to a AMD Duron 800. Here are my system specs and my computer specs. Hp Pavalion 8320 Intel PII 200 I want to change this to a AMD duron 800. The catch is that I'm extremely low on budget, and I don't know if my casing can take the processor. (Not enough room) In total I get about 380$ with the Mainbord AND a power suply that can take the processor. Are there any people that use the same computer me? And if you do, what should I do? I need to change my computer because it crashes every 3 minute.(Seriously) Please help... |
I'm almost certain you will want a new case, ram, power supply, motherboard and cpu. I just bought a really nice case with 300W Enermax Power Supply from; http://www.ucdweb.com/cgi-bin/dbsear...P=abs,DB_PART% 20NO=CS-A1QX-06 Review here; http://www.phamcomputer.com/enermax/...a1qx06-01.html Philips Acoustic Edge Sound card from; http://www.openlinx.net/cgi-bin-openlinx/PerlShop.cgi?ACTION=[&thispage=p age10.htm&ORDER_ID=!ORDERID! -Look for a $20 mfr rebate. Ram from here; www.crucial.com/webpromo You can check other items at www.newegg.com http://www.icompz.com/ (Duron 850 at newegg for $69+$10 shipping.) Break down of prices you should find at "good" stores; Case w/ power supply; ~$75 Ram (256megs of premium) ~$70 Duron 850 ~$79 motherboard (decent one) ~$120 ttl; ~$349 Do you also need a video card and sound card? TThree things. Thank you for your help, I wil most certainly look at the sites. The second and 3rd things are: 2. I DON'T want to buy a acustic edge from philips, I'll take the best card from the ,market then but I don't need a good soundcard. 3. I will try to get my father buy a Geforce 3 or 2 ultra, I on;y got a voodo 3. |
O I forget to add: I can buy a Duron 850 for only 125- and my local store, Sim Lim. Check their website: www.hardwarezone.com/. A very good place indeed. |
I can get an 800 for under 70. |
I just picked up a retail boxed duron 800 with AMD heatsink and fan and a FIC AZ11 MB for $99... The MB is sort of low end, but it works fine. And for this price, I wasn't expecting top of the line... |
I bought a barebones special Duron 750 with an AZ11e MB, and it has been rock solid. I never thought much of FIC mobos before but I checked out some reviews and it turned out to be a decent budget mb. it has ATA100 support and will run up to 1.2ghz t-bird (maybe more with bios flash?) I would recommend it. |
