PC freezing problems........... i have benn having freezing problems for a while..It only happens in windows, especially when i am in the net surfing..I have the latest drivers for soundcard, video card and the newest direct x. It freezes anytime it want to..wierd thing is when it freezes i can still move my mouse. Also it wont let me install win2000 or winxp. it gives me this message... STOP:c0000221 Unknown hard error \systemroot\system 32\ntdll.dll here is my PC spec Asus A7V Athlon Tbird 1000mhz 256meg SDRAM GForce 2 GTS 64 megs SbLive!! Could be an unstable power supply, or unstable software. If it mostly happens while you're browsing the internet, it's probably a spyware program that road along on a download manager or file sharing program installation. Look up "adaware" for more info on how to remove/ detect. |
Check for viruses - make sure you have the latest virus data files installed for your virus app. The freezing MIGHT be due to a PCI IRQ channel sharing problem (this is NOT the same as an IRQ conflict). This problem does not affect ISA cards. Not convinced of it though since this problem usually causes a total lockup - mouse won't work. This problem is very common with NICs, some PCI sound cards (the SBLive in particular is VERY prone to it) and SCSI controller cards.
