Default Is 1080p bettre then 1080i for gaming?

Is progressive scan better then interlaced for gaming? Doesnt really make a difference in movies.

I just got a 40 inch 1080p lcd and I use it mostly for gaming. WoW and a lot of FPS games like BF2142.

I was thinking about trading it in for a 720p one that can do PiP which I really want. 720p is capable if displaying in 1080i.

Anyone know about this kinda stuff?

1080p is technically better.

Also, if you get a 720p TV, it may be able to display 1080i but it won't display it as 1080i. You'll still be able to see everything, but the TV will squash it down to 720p size which means you'll lose detail. Which I'd say entirely defies the point of 1080i anyway.

Although it's hardly a definitive source, Wikipedia has about 20 tonnes of stuff on the subject and is easily accesible from the big G.

thats not true. I have an old 720p dlp tv and when i hook up my ps3 and play blue ray movies and press diaply it says 1080i. also looks just as good as 1080p for movies.

There are reviews there about comparing games? Ive read a million reviews about coparing movies and theyt all say the same thing. My eyes also say the same thing. 1080p only looks noticably better then 1080i if on a really large screen, which mine is only 40 inch (very small for hdtv) or if there is super fast movies stuff on the screen like horses legs in a horse race.

Unfortunately it is true mate. As I said, it may accept a 1080i/p source but it will squash it and display it in 720p. Or did you think that the numbers are different just because the people doing the design got bored and wanted to confuse people?
