I really screwed things up, whatever i did it involves me screwing around in important files. So because of that XP could not load the explorer for shit, it was just incapable of doing it, thats how bad i messed up. But anyway because of that i had to restore my system, i was just going along with the instructions and then it said that my data and such would remain and anything i downloaded onto computer would remain. So anyway after the restore was done i was back on my computer and it looked just like it had when i first bought it, which is a bad thing, it had all the excess crap like wild tangent, and symantec, and free music, aol blah blah blah crap on it. So i restarted but i didn't get a log on screen, so i went to my documents and setting and saw two owner profiles. One said access is denied and i assume thats were all my previous info and everything else is but it says access is denied so i dont know how i can log into it even though i know the password. Is there anyway i can get windows to at least ask me for a password or show it on the login screen becauce ive acessed the log in screen but it only shows the profile im using now.
You reformatted. That clears your entire XP installation and pretty much everything on your hard drive.
Go to control panel and user profiles then make a profile you want.
if you did a reformat and a fresh install, your files are gone......if you only did a repair install then they *should* be there
What accounts are listed in the user accts panel?
The account im being forced to use now is the only one there, but then why in documents and settings does it say have an extra owner profile and when i click it it says acess denied.
The profile im being forced to use by windows right now is an admin account it's just that i can't view my original one because it was password protected so all i need is a way for windows to ask me the password to view that folder and then its all good but i dont know how.
