Come to think of it, that PCI X1300 that was posted about a while back might be faster than the AGP 9550 that he reccommends? I'm thinking the budget card of today should give a low-mid range card from 2 or 3 years ago a good beating. And if the X1300 sucks balls, then what does a 9550 do? Just a thought... :)

It's done! I ordered the graphics card and RAM on newegg.com just a few minutes ago! Thanks EVERYONE for EVERYTHING!! I might just have one more, one more ( I hope) question about how to install the drivers onto the computer from the burned cd (whether you just click a button or whatever), but besides that, finito!

Well, the X1300Pro comes just short of an X700Pro on the benchmark front so...yeah. :lookaround:

I doubt the PCI edition would be much slower. Perhaps roughly equivalent to an X300.

Re: Which graphics card??!

I got them today! I am installing them tonight! Everything seems right.:)

I did get a "bonus CD" called ATI's Bonus DVD Vol. 2...it has game demos which I don't want but it also has some stuff that seems important like:
  • PowerDirector 3 SE Plus CD Key: PW496H4654147374
  • Power2Go 4 CD Key: PP39468293314586
  • PowerBackup Trail
Are those nessesary or just junk? All I want is the graphics card, the RAM, and the games to all run smoothly, no crap.

Thanks.

The big one with the big, fat, ugly black heatsink on it is your graphics card. I'm not sure what your other one is, doesn't seem to have enough sockets for a sound card, but it doesn't really matter.

In the second pic, it does look like RAM but I've never seen anything like that...

Okay. I thought something was fishy about the RAM...
There is only one notch looking thing on the right side of the slot with the current graphics card in it, and it appears that it moves side to side, not up and down. How do I get this big thing out?

And there is a chord that connects the graphics card (the chord is a blueish color near the end), do I keep this is connect it to the new one?

We have one RAM stick in!

UPDATE: We have both RAm sticks in!

Dinner, and then we tackle the graphics card.
