USB ADSL Modem

Okay, I have a USB ADSL Moden for connecting to the internet, but lately it has been very annoying.

I connect and then just leave it connected to the internet for ease of use, and for any programs I have running to access the internet when they need to. I also use it for remote access, anyway...

It has started to randomly disconnect from the internet, and I can't reconnect until I unplug the modem, and plug it back in again.

I have run spyware and anti-virus scans, but nothing has come up.

Can anyone help?

Re: USB ADSL Modem

ADSLTU-R's can sometimes be a little strange. You should contact your ISP and ask them if there has been any recent downtime, ask them about the contention ratio's on the DSLAM that you are subscribed to, sometimes ISP's invoke policies without telling people, where if a person is idle for x amount of time, then they will be disconnected to save bandwidth.
Finally, depending on the modem you have, try a "hard" reset as ISP's call it or uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.

I have a US Robotics SureConnect 9000 modem.
I also don't know much about the ISP, or have any way of contacting them since it is a company connection.

Try an ethernet modem? If the PC to modem link is at fault, ethernet is far more reliable for extended periods of use.
