Having Some technical dificulties.

Hello, I'm having trouble running some games such as halo and medal of Honor, Iv'e lowered the video options and all, but still lag a bit...and freeze up sometimes. This is what i'm using:

AMD Athlon 1.30GHz processor
176MB ram
ATI Radeon7000 64MB PCI video card
60 Gigabyte Hardrive

Any help would be very appreciated.

i dont think you could run them on that system

Technically, it's not technical, it's hardware. That system is a little outdated. Ram and video card will not handle much of anything.

Okay thanks, so what would you recomend me to do get more ram? a new video card perhaps? or just buy a new system?

If you want to be as cost efficient as possible, buy an entirely new rig if at all possible. You can invest some money in that rig, but you'd be wasting it, I'm sorry to say. Kinda like putting a 3k$ paint job on a old beater car. No offense.

If you have a budget you can make your own pc fairly easily and this community is great at putting one together for you and help putting it together. Time, patience and some cash.

If your interested, get together a budget, and let us know.

Okay, see I put this p.c. together from parts I managed to scrap from old junkers...I have $156 saved up right now, around how much would a decent rig set me back?

Yowzers, I've seen some decent rigs pieced together with $500.

Put it like this, it's better to invest it with a new rig than buy more stuff that will not help at all, so essentially wasting it.

Re: Having Some technical dificulties.

Get 512MB more RAM (check what memory your mainboard accepts first) and a better video card and you should be okay with those games. If you could afford it a better processor wouldn't hurt, but memory and video card are top priorities right now.

I'm looking into this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102666 (That's if you have an AGP slot) But PCI Express x16 seems to be the way to go nowadays...... what slot you got anyways?

176MB RAM? I'm surprised Halo even ran at all...... Windows, alone, hogs up more RAM than that. My Internet Machine runs with a P4 1.4 Ghz; 512 MB RAM; and a GeForce MX440 64MB, and it still can barely browse the net without lagging.....

That X1600Pro would be nice, but if you can't afford it a X700 should do. :)

Don't even imagine he would have a PCI-E slot with a Radeon 7000...

Now browsing the net lagged (as in ca 20min to load a page with text) on the 20MHz 386 I used once years ago in school, although that was partly due to the 28k modem (if it even was that fast?) shared between at least five computers, but not on a computer like that. :D

Re: Having Some technical dificulties.

ahh dude. Seriously, your wasting your money. PCI and that ram is some seriously old as dirt gear. Save your cash and get a new rig all together.
