Right i'm going to get a new motherboard a Asus P4PE/L/GD Sockel 478 i845PE ATX/Sound/LAN/USB 2.0/FSB533/DDR/AGP

and my computer is a Dell Dimension 2400 and if i needed a new case for my computer does anyone have any suggestions on what case would work with my comp and my new motherboard

That's...really not a good choice of board imho. Can I suggest that if it's in clearance it's there for a reason? But I suppose you won't get much better since it's all out of production. Miht I suggest something like this? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=62518 It's cheaper, a better board and also new (always a bonus, right?).

But anyway, the actual question, if it says ATX on it, then it will fit. But make sure it is just ATX, if it says micro ATX or something then it won't. Past that, a budget would be helpful. Also comes in black. You can go down to about £20 with cases but as a general rule you do get what you pay for.

Wow wow... you said that backwards. An ATX motherboard will not fit in a Dell 2400 case. The motherboard he linked to is ATX, therefor it will not fit. You will need to buy any case labled as an ATX case to use that motherboard. I can't really give a recommendation, since this is 99% personal choice, but if you find one that you like the looks of, we can tell you weather or not it has good cooling.

First off, you can do better than that motherboard - a LOT better. Especially since it's "Open Box". If you're in that sort of price area then you'd be better off with a Gigabyte or Abit. Plus you won't have the hassle of wondering where the bloody hell the driver discs and screws are, when in fact eBuyer's clearance range generally don't include them. ;)

As for a case, as stated above, if it's advertised as ATX then it will work with any ATX compatible motherboard. We can't really pick one for you, it all depends on personal taste. Might be worthwhile to read some reviews of cases you like the look of, they often review factors such as ease of installation, cooling, expansion space and the like.

I have a Dell Dimension 2350 that I did a case swap with because I wanted it to run cooler. This case was easy, reasonably priced, and has a temp monitor.

It is an Aspire X-Dreamer2 from NewEgg for around $50.00

How about you find a case you like and can afford, link it to us here and we tell you? Seems like an easier option, because as long as it fits the most important thing is that you like it. So us posting links to ones we like, or have experiences with, probably won't be much use.

Oh, and good choice of mobo. :p

suggestions for a case;

1) aluminium helps dissipate heat better

2) the bigger the case, the more air inside it, and it will help cool your components

3) 120mm fans run slower, but move as much if not more air than noisy 80mm fans

4) power supplies that come with cases are usually not very good, get a quality power supply as it will protect your components if there is a short circuit or power surge

5) if you find a case you like search for reviews on it and see what is said. a case may look good, but be hard to fit components to or bad build quality

Yes! A 2400 is the same as a 2350, just some slight hardware differences. The only hard thing about it was I had to cut & splice the power/HD activity lights and switch which was a simple (one by one) job. The PSU plug will plug right in. The CPU fan, I removed it from the dell case and put it behind the HD to keep it cool and it needed to be plugged in to avoid BIOS error. The front USB, I just plugged in and layed it at the bottom of the case since I do not use it.

It was fun!

If you're getting a new mobo, a new case and a new PSU you'll have no Dell custom designed crap to worry about anyways.
