Ever heard of a privacy act? ;)

Don't know of any programs, but I am sure there are some.

Why do you want to do this?

well, 1, it is through a private network, 2, I am stealing an unkown neighbors wireless, 3, I want to know who they are, and tell them that they really shouldnt set their password, to "password", got it first guess, just out of curiousity. I would use it to do a good thing, now, I ain't bad, am I?

If they don't give you permission to use their internet service. Then it is illegal.

Ah, the grey-hat ethos emerges.

If it was password-protected, then you've technically invaded a private network. It could be seen as an attack.

You may see yourself as doing the nice/right thing, but you should know by now that this kind of activity isn't condoned. So stay off others' networks, especially if there's a password in place. It's like a locked door: usually there for a purpose.

Fin.
