Help Overclocking! I am having trouble overclocking my CPU (Athlon X2 4200 Dual Core) the software that comes with it wont let me or I cant find where to overclock it. I have nTune that came with my ASUS AN8 SLI Premium. Ntune only gives me the option to overclock my memory or PCI buss that i can see. Can anywone tell me if this is possible and how to do it ,where is the option in Ntune or if you cant with ntune at all. |
Re: Help Overclocking! Have you overclocked before? i always prefer to do it from the bios, are you famililar with your bios?have a look at it,get to know where settings are like:where to change your cpu frequency, where to change your memory frequency for example, these are usually in "Advanced chipset features"do some research into "overclocking 939's".Last but not least do you have stock cooling on your cpu?If you have never overclocked before its alot to explain if you don't know the terminology, also its all very well uping the cpu speed in some software but you also have to increase the "vcore",otherwise it becomes unstable, this is found in the bios. |
Re: Help Overclocking! Overclock it in the BIOS. Windows overclocking software sucks rather badly. Make sure you have decent cooling and know how to reset your BIOS. |
Re: Help Overclocking! nono, I have OC before but with p4's from BIOS and I dont have stock cooling i just dont know how to overclock 939's i tried to have a look in bios and i cant find it. Do i need to upgrade BIOS? one of my friends told me to do this. |
Re: Help Overclocking! This is why 939s aren't very good for overclocking. |
Re: Help Overclocking! The Asus software is ok to use, its called Ai booster and you can download it from http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us |
Re: Help Overclocking! So they are not very good then??? so why can a venice 3200+ and opteron 146 overclock to match an FX 57???on stock cooling as well!! Quote:

Re: Help Overclocking! Question, why are you overclocking it, that chipset is fine, sure you'll see a small performance boost, but not worth the risk of destroying your chip if the OC doesn't work. |
Re: Help Overclocking! You cannot destroy your chip unless you do something overly stupid (Increasing Vcore insanely)... |
Re: Help Overclocking! Well yes I know, but the real question is why? You won't notice a HUGE speed increase. |
