Fair point, but do you have a 3200+ or a Opteron 146? No. Those older 939 CPUs did overclock fairly well (like the similar socket 754 CPUs), but the more recent ones (and the X2 range is about as recent as it gets) can be a problem. Now, yes, I'm sure you can find on the internet somewhere that someone has overclocked one to 3GHz or something; but that doesn't mean you can do it with your setup. Really, if you wanted to overclock you should've stayed with your P4 lol. Although they do vary, they can take a hell of a lot of abuse when overclocking.
Huh? No seriously what are you smoking. A64's clock better and better by the day. Newer steppings of X2's are hitting 2.7ghz+ on stock vcore. Venices and San diego's have no problem hitting FX speeds. Both P4's and A64's overclock well but I give the a slight edge to the P4 becasue it doesn't suffer from a coldbug.
Mr Nitto 1.45 gets me to 2.65ghz on my venice.
To the OP.
Set CPU multi to 10x240HTT = 2400mhz
Run the 166mhz ram divider to keep ram at around 200mhz.
Couldn't you up the vcore a bit? If heat wasn't a problem that means you should be able to put a bit more power through it safely.
That's a huge misconception about overclocking. SNDS was quite the plague a couple years ago because quite a few people took that line of thought.
Too much voltage can (and will) kill a chip long before the temps go critical in many cases.
And FWIW, And the 939 1xx Opterons have become the new darlings of AMD overclockers everywhere. Even Denmark.

SDNS does effect A64's. High vdimm + low vcore = SDNS on Revision E chips.
