Around £500 each. They're very limited, only 2000 examples were available as of the launch date.

Allright, there's a lot of things here upon reading that are kind of cheesing me off.

#1) The PhysX unfortunately at this point, is still on the ropes; yeah they've got it ready, but there are no games available that can use it.

#2) Further complicating the matter, AMD and Intel are both gearing up to start rolling out the first gen Quad-Core CPU's by the end of the year. With that many processing threads, another one dedicated to just physics seems a little stupid now doesn't it?

#3) I don't care what anyone says, YOU WON'T BE NEEDING A DEDICATED VIDEO PSU ANYTIME SOON!!

MaxPC tested that 2-7800GT's-in-one card by Asus, and they ran it with a PC Power and Cooling 510 deluxe SLI power supply just fine, and they ran it directly connected to the supply, not with the dedicated power brick hooked up.

You'll notice both the 850 and the 1000W supplies that PC P&C makes are of the SSI formfactor. This means that they are meant for high-end servers that are on 24/7/365 and have massive RAID arrays along with racks of Tape Drives running constant backups.

At the rate CPU power consumption is dropping, it should about balance out the growing absurdity of GPU's. In any case, I think we'll see a completely different way of handling graphics before ANYONE in the home market would ever have to plunk down $500 for a 1K PSU

Been busy Raasclot. 4 cards for the new UT2007 game, obviously. And soon GPUs will be in the mobos instead of on the graphics cards. Funny, CPUs are faster and cooler and now GPUs are faster and hotter. Funny, I would have thought faster and hotter for both. The future always hold such promise.

Actually, there are. UT2007 and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, both of which will be out relatively soon, are notable examples.

Not really. Actually, it makes perfect sense - as games get more demanding, as much burden as possible needs to be removed from the CPU. Dedicated Physics processors are a logical next step, given that most of today's games make use of ragdolls in one form or another.

If you've got a beefy enough PSU, then you have no worries. They're just included so that people using "mid-range" PSUs that might struggle with the task of running a highly integrated PCB with two nVidia 7800GT chipsets can still use the card.

I'll agree with you there. No gaming rig should need more than 700W, tops - even with the hungriest components on the market. 1KW supplies are generally for industrial applications and servers only.

Smaller is better, as they say - with smaller manufacturing processes we can look forward to lower power consumption. This is why Intel's new Conroe chip is being marketed for both Desktop and Mobile sectors, with very few modifications being made for the latter. (Apart from a different name - Merom.)

Meh, I'm still real leery about this PhysX thing...call my cynical, but I still don't see a real need for it

Oh yes, we've all heard of the Flip Chip GPU nVidia is proposing; Honestly, I think that is the WORST idea ever. Why? Because not only will we have to keep paying even MORE when we want to upgrade our GPU's, since we'll have to buy new VRAM as well which normally comes on the card itself, but there's also the issue of cross-compatibility.
Look at SLi and CrossFire now, do you really think nVidia and ATi LIKE these companies canibalizing their hardware to try and make them both run on the same platform? Nuh uh, I didn't think so.
So do you REALLY think they'll both come up with the same kind of socket for GPU's if that's the case? That's going to add up to a lot of major headaches for consumers when they have to buy a mobo that's either ATi compatible or nVidia compatible.
They'll either have to agree on something (which will happen when hell freezes over or one company buys the other) or find a better way to package or manufacture the cards so they're not so !@#$ing hot

lol, anyone ever heard of those things called "integrated graphics" that are on most mobos?
