Okay so i finshed formatting my computer and decided i would clean up as much crap as i could so my hard drive wouldn't be clogged full of crap. So i started burning it and everything was fine. And then when it finished it gives me some crap like it didn't would and i would have to do it again.....and the cd would be useless. So i tried again with a different cd and now it doesn't even read it, so i put in a music cd and that didnt work. And becuase this is a dvd player as well i go to my computer and i see that the drive says dvd - rw and now it doesn't read anything except dvd's. Damnit i need to burn some cd's.......any help?

please?

Re: CD Trouble

Maybe it doesn't work because it's a DVD Writer?

Re: CD Trouble

Turn off your pc, open the case, then carefully remove the IDE cable (that goes to the dvd drive) from the motherboard. Turn your computer back on, get into windows wait a minute or so, then turn your computer off, plug the IDE cable back into the motherboard and turn on your pc . If it doesn't work then your drive is probably going bad.

Make sure your drivers for the CD drive are up to date. Also make sure that the CD's you're burning on to are in good shape (no scratches or scrapes).

I ask that you tell us what burning program you're using, and recomend that you might try a differnet one.

well first of all it's a laptop, but please dont think i haven't thought abou the obvious, because it used to read and write cd's. THe problem was that all of a sudden after this cannot write cd error, it stops reading cd's
