my video is now being stupid only when i play a game the screen goes black and a error message comes up and says VPU reset my graphics card do to the graphic card not listening to the drivers commands. then i have to restart my comp and it does the same thing. i tried contacting ati by phone lines are always busy. and this happened when i installed new drivers and i rolled back the drivers it didnt do anything.
Thanks

Re: video vpu problem

You mentioned it was after updating your drivers that this occurred. What you might try is downloading the ATI driver removal program (check the ATI site for it) as it removes all ATI related software from your computer. Then try the new driver again.

Or, you might try to roll back to an older driver.

Go here:

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...e&folderID=293

And download the "Catalyst uninstaller"

edit: hmmm my link doesn't work... I have it, I'll just attach it...

edit2: ( actually, if you click the "back" button on the center of the page I listed, then it shows up)

There's your problem. I know lots (and I mean lots) of people who have had nothing but trouble with 9800 cards - they overheat, artifact, crash and occasionally just stop working altogether. My advice would be to upgrade to an X800 or a 6600GT - great cards, sans the horrible reliability issues that plague certain 9800 models.
