Weird Startup Problemo. I was talking about this in another thread. I turn my PC on and it says "No Video Input", but what i noticed is the Harddisk doesn't make any noise, nor do my USB devices switch on (for example, i have a Logitech Steering Wheel, when it turns on it usually calibrates and goes side to side, it doesn't happen). So i switch off, and then switch back on and it's all fine, i hear Harddisk activity and my Wheel turns on and calibrates. This is very strange, it's like everything turns on, but nothing happens..... :uhm: Little advice guys? Cheers. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. So are you saying that this problem happens half the time you try to boot your PC? It's a bit confusing of a post. The symptoms your desribing makes me think that for whatever reason your power supply isn't comming on properly, since it dosen't seem to send power to some parts of your computer. But you can turn it on again, and everything is fine? Strange. P.S. 300th post! WOOOOOOOOO! |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Yes, exactly what you said. My specs are pretty good and i would assume they would be power hungry (see sig), and it's all running off a shitty stock 400W (Around that) PSU. If that is the case, at least i know now, because i'm getting a new PSU soon anyway. :) Cheers. *Eagerly awaits C38368's response with answer's* :bows: |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. From what I can tell it might be hardware confliction, but you didnt really word the problem correctly, so yeah cant really help, sorry. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. What marvinmatthew said is what is wrong. ;) I think it might be power related.....might. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Ahhh yes, could well be. :) In fact now that I think about it, ages ago when i had that problem it disappeared when i got a new powersupply... odd... |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Ahh cool, thanks for the info guys. Now i play the waiting game. I will get my PSU soon.:) |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. *sends minions out to hijack convoy with hampsters new powersupply!* |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Free Power Supplies! W00t!!!!1 :) |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Sorry for bringing up an old thread. But i got an Antec NEO 480 2 weeks ago and i am still having this problem.. Nothing really powers up, the computer does power up, but nothing shows up and my steering wheel doesn't calibrate and nothing gets displayed. This is really bugging me, because i have to Turn On, Turn Off, and Turn back on my computer everytime. :( |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Hmmmmm..... this is a hard one. It boots, but only every other time eh? Well it might be... The only thing I can think of would be a problem with your mobo since it ensentially controls the rest of your computer. But I can't explain why it boot every other time. You also might check your power button in your case to see that it connects properly to where ever it connects. I'm sorry that I can't help you more. |

It could be your mobo, or like marvin said, check to see if your power button hasn't gone screwy, something else you might try, try unplugging your extra USB devices once, probably won't help a bit but its worth trying. On your first post with this problem, are you still getting the "No video Input" message? that message sounds like something video card related.... |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Yes I am still getting the No Video Input. But it isn't the Video Card, because the Computer doesn't acctually boot up Windows...By the sounds of it (No Sturtup Noise), and the PC switches off instantly rather than shutting down. The Computer Fans do start up and everything else, i can hear Hard Drive activity, but not asd much as i do when it does start up. I tried unplugging my Wheel and it worked a while ago, i will try it again and get back to you. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Hmmmm..... Well, I gotta beleive that it's got to be something with your mobo. For whatever reason, it is telling the PSU to shut off. That's the only thing I could think of. How long do the fans run and hard drive do stuff until the whole computer shuts down? |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. ooh... the same thing happens to me, except i have to press the restart button, i'm asuming it might be the power buttons but im not sure |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Quote:
It's like you turn the PC on in sleep mode or idle.. I will explain in more detail. I turn the PC on as i would every morning. It would turn on (my power switch illuminates, fans start spinning, etc), but nothing else turns on...My Wheel (which when you switch the PC on, it turns on and calibrates from side to side) doesn't turn on, my moniter just says "No Video Input"...and i am 100% certain the OS doesnt load or anything else for that matter... So i hit the power switch and it turns off instantly. Switch it back on and it works fine. Load up Windows fine (doesn't ask for Safe Mode, etc) and i dont get that error message "Windows has suffered a critical error" or whatever. It's strange... It's like it just fails to switch on the first time but it kick starts everything into gear, and you restart it and its up and running. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Here's a question, if your mouse is an optical mouse, tell me if the laser comes on when you power up your machine. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. I will try it later and do some experimenting. ;) Thanks for the help guys. I will post some results back later. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. I am sorry that I have not been able to solve the prob. This is really perplexing me and bothering me. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Ok, an Update. My Optical Mouse is always on, so i couldn't really test that. When it does it's weird thing, I hear Hard-Drive activity...But the Wheel doesn't work. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Your mouse is always on? Is your computer always on? My guess would have to be a problem with your mobo. For whatever reason it's not allowing your OS to boot. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. My Mouse Laser is always on, PC on or off. It doesn't just not let the OS load, it won't let anything power up/load....except for the fans and such, it's really weird and very difficult to explain. Sorry. |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. That sounds like an ACPI problem. Try this: Enter sleep mode from Windows, and see if it locks up / refuses to "wake". If so, then something similar might be happening on power-up, which would indicate a faulty motherboard. Do you have a spare machine to test individual components on? |
Re: Weird Startup Problemo. Unfortunatly not really...I will try what you said...But i'm not in the mood for testing individual parts when it is most probably the Motherboard... It is a brand new PC, so I can replace the Motherboard. :) |
