LNK File Problem!!! ok all my shortcuts have gone bad. eg turned into .ink and none of them work, this is uber annoying as i can't get any progs working really. any help i would posta screenshot but i canb't get paint open. |
Re: LNK File Problem!!! Hmm. Sounds like a problem with the registry, or perhaps a virus? Open your virus scanner directly through the .exe file and give it a once-over. If you can't (or don't know how to) find the program file, try Trend Micro HouseCall. If your AV doesn't show up anything, open regedit.exe in the Windows folder, look in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and see if you spot anything suspicious - specifically, look for a folder value called "lnkfile". If it isn't there, this may be the root of your problems. In which case, a System Restore or a repair from your WinXP CD may fix the problem. |
Re: LNK File Problem!!! its there , and i don't have a system restore point set this is uber annoying anyone know an easy method of sorting a this out. |
Re: LNK File Problem!!! That sounds like a serious problem. I wish I could help, but never heard of this. Might be time to reformat? |
Re: LNK File Problem!!! ok i have sorted it i have to created the .ink filetype within the folder options and set its type as a shortcut. if anyone else get this problem just say and i will tell you how to fix it. but before this i ended up installing every windows update lol |
