Re: Cheapest System capable of running bf2, and fear maxed out.
I dont know a lot about the American $ value but a couple suggestions. 2 good video cards, 6600GT (good on from BFG) is alright, will play game smoothly but not newest and fastest. Another good one, my favorite is Asus X800 Video card. High preformance but not Excessively expensive
P4 3.2 HT, nVida 7800GTX, 2GB Ram, 250GB HD

which is better do you think, the x850 xt or the 7800 gtx. i Am getting some ram tomorow and i think ill just ask for a new video card for x-mas.
Here are my specs.
cpu. 2.8 ghz p4
vpu-x700 pro
ram-768 mb ( i have a 512 stick coming in the mail and a 256 stick. Should use them both? or just the 512. i plan on getting another 512 soon.)
34.4 gb hd
Im not sure what kind of mother board i have but i think it starts with an 8
(i 875) im not sure
With these specs how do you think fear would run. As of now with those specs and only 256 ram i can run battlefield 2 on all low with minor hiccups but they are there nontheless

The 7800GTX will beat a X850xt easily. If you can get it for xmas then go for it .

Both. Every extra bit counts, until about 2gb, if it's running dual channel then 2gb is the best you can do.
I'm not certain how fear would run with that, mainly it relies on the video, and apparently the x700 isn't an excellent card - you could run it on pretty high settings, but you need something like an x850 to run it maximum.

What Socket is that P4 2.8? If its Socket 478 then it might bottle neck with the 7800GTX. Also does your motherbored have a Pci-Express slot because if not you can not use the 7800GTX.
$619.55 after rebate assuming you have a monitor, keyboard, and CD/DVD drive. This is the cheapest I figure you could run it at on full or damn close. I have that exact video card and she runs BF2 smooth on close to full out, I played F.E.A.R demo with the same results. Only thing holding me back is my XP3200+ CPU

If it's an i875 motherboard, its a socket 478 and he doesn't have PCI express. If this is true, like agent said, you can't run a 7800GTX.... an X850XT is your best bet, but its not the cheapest system capable of running BF2 and FEAR. It's way more than you need.
