In Need Of Help Regarding Building My Own Pc!!

ok guys, i want to assemble a crack team to assist me in making an Uber PC!
i have a cap of £500 p/m so lets try and make things cheap yet powerful! any help here would be appreciated!
so can anyone give me a breakdown on what i need, and then their prefered piece of hardware related to that list so e.g.

1. Video Card; ATi Radeon blah blah
2. Sound Card; blah blah

omfg, there is no such thing as cheap and powerfull. if there were we would all have spl0itz systems. first i would go with a x850 xt pe pci-express (7800 gt if you want an overkill it dosent sound like you play many new games), a AMD64 3700 socket 939, a ASUS nforce4 motherboard, with PC3200 ram. get a good PSU with at least 450 watt and 20A on the 12v rail. sound card is onboard most of the time, if you want about an extra 5 fps in games you can spend 60 more bucks for a sound card, its really not worth it. it sound like you have around 1000 USD to spend, all of this will fit well in your limit. HDD is prefrence, although get an SATA drive.

A 2MB cache hard drive? Not a good idea. 8MB is enough for most users, and you could get a 200GB SATA OEM 8MB drive for roughly £55.

A minimum 400W system power supply (with 12V currect rating of 26A)

@reven, thats great input and a much better idea than a 2mb cache, his best bet is that when he builds he still disables page fileing.

yo mine i needed a cheap ass one too, (don't gota job, im 14) total like $300 (with the OS and a new crt monitor sincec old ones fryed, 550), decent and plays all my games on high settings (Mohaa, Cod, Cod UO, AA, HL (whole set of the classics) [ all u need r the right brands to geta good rig for a good price]
here r myy specs,
<AMD Atholon 64 2800+ soc 768 oced to 2 ghz
<512 MB ram (256 taken from my old rig so a total of 768MB)
<Asus K8N4-E DELUXE with a Nvidia Chipset, 3 PCIs, 1 PCIxPRESS 16x, 2 PCIxPRESS 1x or sumthing slower and really small i never use those
<Power Color ATI Radeon x300 PCI xpress 16x wiht 256MB memery (60 sumthing dollars, not bad)
<Windows 2000 Professional (70 bucks) (i run linux on an older one)
<a new mouse (reg one, like 15 bucks)
<and old dvd-rw drive, a cd drive, sum extra fans (AMDs get hot) and a drive all from my old rig (all thats about 150 more dollars)
<a case (depens on ur prefrance, lets say u geta 50 dollar one)
^There u have it, my rig (yeah it's not the shinyest tool in the shed but it's great for the price) now an OS is ogin to cost u more and so is a monitor, with an os and a new mon it's goin to be sum what over $1,000
Putting one together isn't too diffacult if u got some common sense in ya (my first rig i built was when i was 11 and that thing lasted quite a long while (round 3 years) i used the manuals inclueded (when i got stuck) but it was basicly easy if u look at the parts and the sockets to go with it, although it didn't work for a day or so cause i messed up (put the HD ribbon on the CD drive socket, haha) my new ones perfect (the specs above), never crashed or nuthing, go with my brands, they rock!!
