That is pretty good, just get the +3000 and go for a 6800gt with the money you save.

You can overclock it to a +3500 easy on that mother board and that ram. Good computer though.

everything looks good except the video card. I would recomend the NVIDIA GEforce FX 5700. Its only 89.00 but it kicks ass. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?Inv...g&cm_ite=total

my system cost 700 bucks total, including the PSU.

its the best 700 can currently buy. the ram is nice, corsair isnt the best. its also a bit overpriced, typical newegg.

That RAM you posted is the same price on Newegg. Shipping costs may vary though, but you cant blame that on Newegg. Although from what I've read I understand that 1 stick of CAS 3 DDR would never be as good as CAS 2 DDR running in Dual Channel. Personally I wouldn't buy a processor OEM, just because I like to have the warranty that comes with the retail version. (even if I'll never use it)

EDIT: I just noticed that that processor is socket 754. I think he should stick with 939 because that will allow him to upgrade to a better processor later on.(and he will get Dual Channel DDR support) Even though 939 is going to be phased out for M2, I still think it is currently the best choice

2 sticks of ram in dual channle is a lot faster than just a single. It be better to get 2x512 for dual channle. Meh I buy OEM, mostly on the processors because I don't want to buy a fan/heatsneak that I'm just gonna replace. Socket 754 is still good and I don't think hes gonna upgrade any time soon. But if he is then yeah get a Socket 939 but if you can hold off to 2006 it be even better because AMD is coming out with Socket M2 and Nvidia is coming out with new video cards.

I think he wants to play Fh2(judging from his sig) and the fx5700 won't run it at all, BF2 minium is an Fx5700.

Yeah, either get a good system now or wait for the M2 socket to come and get the 939 socket stuff cheap.

Re: A Question About A Pc(2)

I go with Western Digital for my H.D.D.'s... and LITE-ON for my optical drives.

Also; I would spring for the SLI version of the motherboard you found, just in case you want to do that whole SLI thing later on down the road.

Re: A Question About A Pc(2)

It will be ok, but try upgrading it once you have the money, they can and do go on people since they are cheap.

here are some parts you need to change:
Motherboard(Micro ATX won't fit in an mid tower ATX case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128306

Its SLI so can add another SLI card when you have the money.

Video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150111

Alot better than an x700 and when you have some more money you can add another one(same card from the same manufactuer)

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103537

Its $50 cheaper and just as fast.

Re: A Question About A Pc(2)

You can't use that x700 AGP with a PCI-express motherboard. Just spend $20 more and get the 6800 posted
