ok i brought comp to my friends house to do a lan and we dont know how to do it. We got the box and two cables and the power cable no cd's were included and i dont know how to set it up pls help!!
Are you using crossover RJ45 cables, or standard RJ45 cables with a hub?
If you're running Windows XP it should be very simple, just run the XP Network Setup wizard, and let it find your hardware and configure the network for you. If not, you'll have to do it manually.
ok i dont know how to know what kind of cables they are but we tried the wizard and it asks for a disc or to make a disc and i dont know how cause i dont have a floppy drive. how would you do it manually?
Run the wizard on the computer that you want to set up as the host - or the computer that connects directly to the Internet through a modem. Select the "This computer connects directly to the Internet" option from the first screen, then follow the menus through. Once the wizard is finished, go to the other computer, run the wizard, but this time select the option "Connect through another PC", and then follow the wizard through again.
Once that is done, restart the computers (host first, then client) and if all is well the connection should be up and running.
wait he has cable connection and it is a modem we have connected to the ethernet hub so which computer is classified as the directly to internet one. since they are both connected to a hub which is connected to the cable modem
In that case, you need to install drivers fro your router before you can use it. If you don't have the discs, look on the manufacturer's website for a driver download.
ok i went to the website and its a linksys model befsr41 v.2 etherfast cable/dsl router and i was looking and version 2 is conspicuously absent. it had v. 3 and v.1 but no two.
