Learing Visual Basic

My school offers a Visual Basic program at a near by college. The class would cost almost $700 if I didn't take it through my school, so I figured, what the hell.

Friends say visual basic is a minimally used languange in the gaming industry. I don't really see a downside to taking the class, it's only one day a week for two hours. And I'll most likely practice a ton in my spare time. I'm mildly interested in learing how to program games, which is the class's focus.

Will this class be of any use to me? Or is it just a good start?

Yup, it's the place to start if you want to get into game modding and C++ programming (very advanced, stuff they use to make games).

I've been learning for three years now, and I've never struggled with it - it's piss easy.
