Best Computer You Can Buy: Under $5000

I thought this would be a good thread to make and have people know what the limits on what you can buy for computers.

Anyway, with the limit of $5000, what is the best computer that a person could make (I want powerful, and no BRAND NAMES THAT MAKE COMPUTERS, I.E. Dell and Gateway and Alienware and all that fun stuff)

This will be for personal reference, and since this is a generation turn-over with the advent of the 2GB RAM becoming more commonplace and the introduction of the GForce 7 series.
Good luck on the best computer you can buy for <$5000. Make sure to get top of the line parts and equipment. Clearly, you have to rate processors differently has AMD 2.8ghz processors are faster then 3.8ghz Intels.

Anyway, like I said what is the best computer you can make using released parts?

Yay I have a ViewSonic LCD at 19 inches! I nearly have the best.

Has for the processor, that is fast.

But surely there's RAM at 2gb each?

Video cards are state of the art and well worth it.

Best advice: wait a few months for the prices to drop. $1000 for a processor is a little bit extreme.

Ill post my buying guide in December, im waiting for Long Horn (Windows Vista) and its 32 gig of ram suport (and the mother boards to go with it). I am also waiting for the new AMD chip.

But as for video cards, the 7600 OC Ultra Dual Core 512 Megabyte 16x PCIe SLI, mm the power of 4 video cards!

Hmm, but your suppose to max out your computer essentials to fit under $5,000.

If you have a computer like that: you sir are either A: Super-Hardgore Gamer B: PC Gaming Magazines or C: A Rich Person

So, you are lucky to own these semi-super's. Congrats to anyone who has bought the best for the best for the best for computers.

Intels are crap processors, AMD only here unless Intel beats them.

The Pentium Mobile processor has been found to out preform a lot of desktop processors, and use WAY less power, if they could make it into a 64 bit proc i would buy.
