Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ nice computer!!!!!!!!!!! but i would advice getting a motherboard with a more common brand, such as ASUS, MSI etc |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ foxconn are good, thats what mine is |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Quote:
AFAIK, all Intel-branded motherboards are, in fact, built by Foxconn. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ You forgot about your OS... grab a copy of XP off ebay for between $45-$100 |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Meh I would get a DVD-RW for $48 for at least you can do every thing from burning DVDs to CDRW..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16827106988 Then this motherbored for you can do SLI later on... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16813130492 Also if your gonna do gaming then wireless isnt the way to go. A MX5XX would be better....... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16813130492 Also heres a link to help you build a PC http://www.pcguide.com/byop/byop_Bas...dingYourPC.htm http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/ http://www.daileyint.com/build/ http://www.buildeasypc.com/ |

Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ I would definately get the XFX version of the 7800GTX, not the eVGA version. XFX's version is only $5 more, but the clock speeds are 490/1300 instead of 450/1200. As far as building the PC, go to tomshardware.com. They have an excellent guide there. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ K cool |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ and you get a free copy of BF2( :lookaround: ) For about $50 more you can get a +3700 processor, which is a good %15-%20 faster than the +3500 since it has 1mb L2 cashe. The only difference between it and the FX series is the clock rates(I think) |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Whats the highest AMD chip and how much is it? |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ single core the FX-57. They run about 1k a chip. For dualcore its the amd X2 +4800 for the same price. They are not worth it when you compare it to slower chips which cost 1/2 of them. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ O ok kool thx |

Nice Mouse-$28.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826104150 Speakers-$15.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116149 Integrated audio is fine if you dont care about sound. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ I have a nice microsoft (35$ mouse) optical and I have nice speakers already but I may buy some more just for the fun of it,. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ One small thing we all forgot - ethernet card for my broadband lol.. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Hasn't it integrated 1Gbps LAN? Looks like it at least.. If you don't think it's too much, invest 50$ in a sound card, the difference between onboard and e.g. an Audigy 2 Value is incredible, I don't really care much about sound and I use headphones, but still the difference is amazing e.g. in BF2. |

Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Oh good it is integrated, and yeah I may invest some more money into a sound card! |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Would this MOBO be good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186055 |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Not really, for a home computer. That's more of a server motherboard. I recommend getting a motherboard with a CPU socket of 939, which gives you a huge variety of processors to pick from. 4GB of RAM maximum is plenty, you won't even need that much for years to come. Two PCI-E x16 slots that can run in SLI mode are nice too. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Blah, I'm slow. :P What Solid Snaked said. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Oh ok IC now cool thx :) I think I found a good one Here is what i built so far: MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186059 Proc: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103539 GFX card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150100 Ram: http://www.computerhq.com/OCZ_1GB_51...id-549765.html CASE: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...392&CatId=1521 HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144184 |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Looks much better, make sure your HDD's are supported, though. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ How do i do that? |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ your pretty rich for a 17 year oldhttp://gamingforums.com/images/smili...rcastic%29.gif |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Well your HDD is SATA 150, whereas your motherboard has 4 x SATA II. Those are two different interfaces. Either change your choice in HDD, or motherboard so they both match. |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Quote:
"SATA II" is a marketing term that companies like to use to sell more drives at higher prices. The standard itself (for next-gen SATA interfaces) has been renamed "SATA-IO". Moreover, all of the next generation SATA controllers (including that one built into nF4) are backwards compatible with older (SATA-150) drives. It's possible that a "SATA II" drive may not work on an older SATA-150 controller, but it is far more likely that you'd simply lose the benefits of the newer drive technology (just as you can run an ATA133 Maxtor on an ATA66 controller if you do desire). |
Re: ~~Ok on to the next step~~ Correct me if I'm wrong (and forgive me for jumping in) but wouldn't it have been cheaper (and easier) to order from Cyber Power ? http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/high...ra9000.asp?v=d Change a few things in that system and it's equal to or better than the system you listed, at the same price or cheaper, correct? And no building. I'll go away now :) |

So you're telling me that I can plug my SATA 150 cable into a SATA II slot on a motherboard and it will all work? Interesting. This changes everything... |

I would just go back to the old motherboard. I dont think you'll be using SLI anywhere near now, Especially with that 7800GTX |
