Knoppix ADSL Problems ok..here it is I have a Sagem F@st 800 ADSL modem that came with my broadband package, and I'd like to get it working with knoppix, as drivers for it are not included. Now, I've downloaded Linux drivers for it from the Sagem website, but now I'm completely confused - How do I load the drivers into the kernel? I'm a complete n00b at Linux in general, a little help please http://www.gamingforums.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems Is it a USB or Ethernet modem? |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems USB Modem - Cheap and nasty |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems Is Knoppix installed, or running "Live" off the CD? It would be a little difficult to get USB devices to work on a Live CD, if they do not work to begin with. |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems Live CD..... |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems It may not be able to find the USB port its connected to or it does not have a driver for a USB modem....... it be a lot esaier to install then config your kernel to find it and use it.. |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems No, it can find the device - It just doesnt have drivers for it - it is listed as "Unknown device" |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems oy radiant..wat linux are u runnin tell me that first and i can help u from there.. |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems You can't install stuff using a Live CD in most cases. Install Knoppix to your hard drive with the full install version and it should work - Live CDs are usually just for demonstrating what the OS is like, and don't allow you to do anything major. |
Re: Knoppix ADSL Problems oh well, it was worth a shot. thanks for the input everyone. @ Guardian-Archangel, Knoppix is a Debian-based variant of Linux http://www.gamingforums.com/images/smilies/winkx.gif http://www.gamingforums.com/images/smilies/smilie.gif |
