Wow... revalation....

I was just looking at nVidia MonitorView (part of nTune.. for monitoring temps) and it says CPU 23C, GPU 62C, and System 39C. I always assumed that system was the ambient temperature, but is this the temperature of my chipset?

OMG ! You better get some cooling there cos 62 C is NOT good as far as i know.. im getting artifacts with 60 C

The 6800GT's have the core slowdown threshhold preset at 127C. They don't get damaged until the low 130C's, and on stock cooling they get up to 83C under load.

So how about the nTune readouts. Is the "system" temp the ambient temp, or my chipset temp?

There are still plenty of things on the motherboard that it could be reffering to... northbridge, southbridge, voltage regulators (doubt that one)... does anyone know for sure what it is, without speculating?
