Bios This kind of goes along with my other, but i need help with the BIOS. I enter them and everything fine, but i cant find anything on like, a primary video or display thing. I really need help with locating it. Its a pretty old MOBO, its an Intel AG430HX, any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thank You. |
Re: Bios what do you mean "primary video or display thing"? There are many things like that...Do you want to overclock? Could you somehow get a screenshot of what it looks like? BIOSes vary a lot. |
Re: Bios i need to turn off my primary video card, which is on-board, they said to do it through BIOS, and i cant find anything about it, ill get a pic rite now. *Edit I cant get a pic....sorry, but can any one still help...please? |
Re: Bios You could try to find something like "onboard video" or "integrated video"/graphics, if there isn't anything like that try to find anything that has to do with video or display or graphics and post it here, perhaps someone can help you find which of those it is. |
Re: Bios It does not appear to be possible,... http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/oem/index.htm I think it would be listed under the Main, or Advanced section, but It is not listed in that manual. |
Re: Bios A bios should deffinately have it.... Maybe update/flash the bios? (note that it can be risky) |
Re: Bios You should not update your BIOS unless you need it. Except for new boards, if the Flash process fails you could screw your motherboard permanantly, with no way of fixing it. It's pretty risky, and should only be attempted if you actually need it. Is your computer a pre-built one? Many manufacturers purpousfully limit the features of the BIOS to prevent people overclocking. They wish to force people to buy a faster processor instead. If that is the case, then yes, the only way would be to flash your BIOS, but unless you really need to then don't. |
Re: Bios Quote:
But it's kind of the only way if indeed the option is not there. |
Re: Bios i had my computer custom built a while ago, i added a few changes but nothing serious, what do you mean Flash? |
Re: Bios It's the term for updating a bios. It can ruin your mobo if done wrong. |
Re: Bios well, is it what i have to do? |
Re: Bios Maybe, maybe not. Older motherboards like that, often have "jumpers" that can be set. You will need to open the computer, and find the Jumper marked on-board Video (or something similiar). Then change it. Refer to the Manual for more info. I have not yet found that info, so it may not be easy to find. No guarantees that a BIOS update/flash will work. It may, or may not add the ability to disable the on-board video. Is should be possible to set the Primary video card in the OS you have installed. You just have to list which OS, and version. You said "This kind of goes along with my other". I'm not sure what you meant,... Are you refering to this thread? http://forums.filefront.com/tech-discussion/203306-help-video-card.html If so, then I take it this is another computer... |
Re: Bios ok, i disabled my primary video card, through my OS, but that all leads me to my first question about my video card, it still does the DOS like letters, i really dont know what to do, i really need help, anyone? |
