well... if its not firewall, antivirus, spyware, or moden... then i guess your just kinda screwed. I'd call the internet provider and complain.

If you're using a router, then yes, you do have a firewall. All routers have built-in hardware firewalls, and can have seperate systems to have specific ports open. So if you moved your pc, or switched which port it connected to, you could run into problems.

Check your routers documentation on the ip address and login information to access your routers settings. If you do not have them, check the vendors site under it's help page to give you the information you require.

Also, windows has it's own little firewall that may cause you problems. If you're using a router, you do not need this to be running. From the control panel, go to network connections and right click on your local connection, click properties, and disable firewall.

Re: internet is screwed up

posifozzy, Windows XP comes with a Firewall, unlike previous versions. Service Pack 2 automatically enables the Firewall. If you think you don't have one, then it is enabled.

So your behind two firewalls.

I did find this site. Which shows you how to check the status of your XP firewall.
http://support.shaw.ca/networks/xpfirewall.htm

To add a game, I believe you add a service to the firewall. I don't have Windows XP, so I can't check.
