Can't load Quake 3 using a cheap video card?

Hello! I just downloaded Quake 3 demo but I couldn't load it. A pop-up window said there was an error of "page fault" with "opengl32.dll". I'm using Savage 4 with 8mb ram...(this came with the computer!) Thanks!

Go to www.glsetup.com and get the latest drivers for your card that have been tested for Q3A compatibility

I installed the new driver, but the problem still exists. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is it for Voodoo cards only?

FlyingPenguin December 6th, 1999 02:11 PM

WickedGL is only for 3Dfx cards.

Magicka: Check to see if you have a file called OPENGL32.DLL in your Quake3 folder - you shouldn't. If there is, delete it.

Isn't there a MiniGL driver from S3 for Quake III?

Magicka December 6th, 1999 09:35 PM

I didn't have the file "opengl32.dll" before. When I started it, the starting screen would say that it couldn't load gl driver. Then, I found the file and installed and I got the "page fault" error thereafter. Help! (if I can't play the demo, I won't buy Q3 of coz...)
