NEED HELP immediatly
 

Ok, so I was installing some new RAM i bought today ,which ended up being the wrong kind and i am returning it tommorow, But i had to rearrange some wires to get to my DIMM slots and so I put all the wires and connectiors back as i remembered them, to cd drives and vid card fan and all of that and motherboard. But now when i start up my computer i get this error "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" I am extremely confused and have not a clue of what to do. PLEASE if you have any knowledge of this problem reply a.s.a.p, right now i'm on a windows 98 extremely slow computer, so plz help me!!! thankyou in advance

sounds like your hard drive isnt plugged in with the IDE cables, i could be wrong.

ok that seems like it could be the problem, what are the IDE cables, are those the thick gray multi wired things? and could you maybe provide a diagram or explain in depth how i could fix this and where these damn wires go. Ok this may be the problem. I have this multi wired gray thing of wires and it is labled "SLAVE ON ONE PLUG AND MASTER ON THE OTHER PLUG" and one of them isn't plugged in, which is probably my error as i was rearranging things, but i cannot find a place to plug it into, plz respon any1 need help. TY

plug master into the back of your harddrive, it should fit into the most appropriate slot. it is a long cable yes that should fit right in the back of your harddrive.

ok i have 2 sets of cpu board,slave, and master 1 of them connects the cd,dvd,and floppy

the other is next to the DIMM slots of the RAM, and if you have AIM (aol instant messenger) could i plz have your username so we can talk about this more frequently? plz?

on your mobo, you should have 3 or 4 IDE sockets, one of em IDE 1, the other IDE 2, and Floppy, plug a cable into IDE1 to the hard drive, then IDE2 to ure cd rom, then Floppy too your floppy:rolleyes: . on IDE their should be two things, Master and slave, as you said, plug master into your hard drive, dont worry about slave, that is only if you have a second drive, try that and tell me if u get stuck, i aint the most bright at comps here but i do have a good idea of em, so some questions i might not know.

ok super cool i got my computer working, but guess what?!?!?! now my cd drives wont open! its cool for now cuz im not listening to music or anything or installing any games but i wil need it soon lol but thanks a million, it was my hard drive. Tell me when you have aol. plz

You didnt plug the power into your CD-ROM drive.
