Which is better:


ATI RADEON™ X800 XT PCI Express 256MB DDR3 w/ Digital and TV Out



or


NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6800 Ultra PCI Express 256MB DDR3 w/Dual Digital and TV Out

The ATI performs slightly better at most games, and *I think* its cheaper too.

If I recall corerctly Nvidia was a wee bit faster but ATI had better picture quality and IIRC ATI was cheaper.

I like Nvidia but if the ATI was almost as fast, and it is, and it was cheaper I'd go ATI.

BTW, I am a Nvidia fan but I just bought a Radeon 9559.Why? because it was best card for the dollar and I could nt affordt a 5900XT.

X800 is teh uberest:D. I'm looking at a new graphics card now and found this for only $143

in recent benchmarks on the Source engine for Half Life 2, 9600 cards fell behind 9800's by almost 15 fps. it still can run stuff well, but as long term, it could fall behind...god, technology keeps improving so fast. everything becomes instantly out of date :(

btw benchmarks on different video cards on Doom 3 and Half Life 2's source engine are available on gamespot.com

Well what was the FPS for the HL2 engine with the 9600? Its only $150 And comes with Cs CZ:naughty:. I'm going to get my own computer soon so i just need somthing to play the latest games at a descent frame rate

yeah, gaming is an expensive hobby, but it pays off :).
