sharing ADSL modem with other computers

OK I have a problem sharing my ADSL modem with another computer in another room. Whenever I try and share the connection, the connection stops and no computer can go online. Any solutions otherwise My ignorant sister will use my computer to chat using MSN etc.etc. for FIVE HOURS and I HATE THAT!

An ADSL modem will not function on multiple machines, without something "routing" your IP. This can be done by either setting up one computer as a gateway (requires an aditional ethernet card), or buying a hardware-router that has more ethernet plugs in it.

Re: sharing ADSL modem with other computers

you can also share the internet connection once a connection has been made. When you sign on, go to My Network Connections, right click on the internet connection you are using, click on the Advanced Tab, and the last thing would be Sharing the connection. Once that is enabled, other computers on the same network should be able to notice the connection and not have to be signed in.
