Is it possible to overclock dual... I have Dual P4s and have overclocked smaller single proccesors but i have worries about dual. My BIOS has seperate settings for each |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... The principals are in theory the same on a dual cpu board as a single. You might wanna search the net to see if it has been done before with your mobo, incase you need help or support.. |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... Its been done before, cos ive tried it. Its a little more frustrating, cos the procs need to keep the same speed and about the same temp to (if one is significantly hotter it will run slower) but the difference in speed between the to can cause crashes ans freezing, but depending in the program running may not cause any problems. just make sure you have extra cooling and the setting for each proc are the same. |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... Just remember to buy extra fans... |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... What does it mean to overclock a processor. What r the pros and cons??? |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... overclocking is a proces of changing setting in the system for how your proc operates to allow it to run faster clock rates. the pro is cheap performance boost, the cons are that the proc will undoutedly create more heat which will were it down faster and shorten its life. this is when you usually here people talk about water cooling and other higher performance cooling options to counter the heat and maintain the stability and life of the proc. |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... con: it voids Warranties |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... They stay around 60 deg right now with 5 fans but i have reached 79 before. Should i buy more fans or a cooling divice? |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... I have an intel p4 2.4ghz processor and it get up to and over 100 degees. I have 4 fans 3 small rear and 1 large side fan. I'm not sure if my processor has a waranty on it. |
Re: Is it possible to overclock dual... sounds llike both of you should invest is watercooling or Peltiers if you want to go any farther, with overclocking |
