What's your favorite army and why?

I might start after buying an iPod and guitar. For gameplay only, what's your favorite army?

Dark eldar - great fluff, great possibilities of a diverse army etc etc.
Experimental codex harlequin - all the above, plus imagine clowns striking the enemy down

Vasili June 14th, 2007 02:49 PM

Imperial guard - Death Korps of Kreig, they are true Imperial guardsmen. They very cool fluff and a Word War one French and German uniform also the forgeworld parts are amazing!

Space marines - My custom army, Sons of Malic. This is my custom chapter, havent really written any offical fluff about them but i like them

Seig June 14th, 2007 07:06 PM

i would go with Space Marines as they can be diverse n if u ever get tired of them u can just convert ur chapter (or company if ur usin a premade chapter) to chaos.

I got tired of space marines because every other bugger has them.

My favorite race has gotta be eldar, or tyranids. Eldar because their new codex is awesome, nice amounts of fluff and really fun to play with, what with grav tanks and the likes. Tyranids because I love the idea of running straight at the enemy, getting blown to bits a little, then ripping them to shreds once you get too close (rending is a tyranids best friend), I proabably prefer eldar though, bit more balanced and the models look great!

Chaos- Iron Warriors followed closely by Dark Angels
Cant wait for the new chaos stuff to come out!

oh and theres already a chapter called sons of malice, but theyve turned renegade/traitor

B@SE June 15th, 2007 04:10 AM

Golden General Elite rules all you noobs, but not wraithcat cause she umber. :D

Seig June 15th, 2007 05:53 AM

i guess it really depends on wut type of person u are because ive tried all btu the witch hunters and chaos and i could never really pull myself away the whole humanity thing

but i gotta tell u the tyranids with the without number rule makes them so fun cuz then u rush in get blown to pieces n then get to come back and do it again

B@SE June 15th, 2007 05:55 AM

^ Yup true! :)

cronon666 June 15th, 2007 12:28 PM

I like iron warriors because of their big tanks and i like tyranids because of their big beasts:beer:

Gaffer1991 June 15th, 2007 02:16 PM

I love Imperial Guard just for the Simple fact that they are basicly, like are troops bit more advanced in some ways. But also I love the history about them and all stories and shit too. Finaly I love them just because even though the 40K universe isn't real it sort of shows how humans would fair against alien treats (You never know :p).

Is this basically saying all the races you play are cheesy and beardie or something? either way my army list hasn't lost for at least 10 games now so it's all good =)

Dark Angels: Their quiet and secretive ways are very much like myself

Ozzfest20 June 16th, 2007 05:46 PM

I'm usually a fan of mass fire, so imp guard I think. What's the cheapest way to get started?

The cheapest way to get started is infact not to collect guard, 1000 points will proabaly set you back about £200, whereas most armies it'll proabably be about £100

Nope if your going for a mass of just troops all you need is 4 boxs of imps 1 box of heavy weapons and command squads. Because out of a heavy weapons box you get enough guns to make 12 different guns...Just need to do a little bit of converting making stands of sandbags...I'm in Ireland and in total my Imp army has cost me 185 euro...But it will go up cause im gething snipers but thats a 1000 point army pretty much for under 200 Euro. Ooohh and 200 euro is in pounds £134.50...So not to bad

Ozzfest20 June 18th, 2007 11:56 AM

What's the cheapest army in $$$?

Seig June 18th, 2007 01:54 PM

well lets jus put it this way

200 euros is like 400 dollars

Thats where your wrong! My chapte name is called "Sons of Malic" they have no 'E' at the end. :p

Tommy_Gun June 19th, 2007 02:27 AM

fair enough. Ill bet it confuses a lot of people

Vasili June 19th, 2007 09:10 AM

Aye but it hikes them up for a game! "I'm I using Chaos or Marines!?!" they cant prephare for my army with any anti-race weaponary.

[-x-JP-x-] est 1990 [EMO] June 22nd, 2007 01:15 AM

well they can, as CSM and SM are both toughness 4 and need ap 3 weaponry to kill them

id just use plasma against you, if i used eldar, who are my favourites, id use howling banshees and dark reapers and possible a fire prism

if i used chaos, my other army id use my brothes old land raider with all the upgrades and his dreadnoughts cos they just own

and hes giving me his eldar titan next week so im like yay

Seig June 22nd, 2007 07:11 AM

u kno i used thisone chapter one time called the Stone Brothers and one squad of 5 ppl took down a squad of 30 orks in close combat n they only lost 1 person

but they only could use like 2 squads plus 1 squad of termies in a 1000 point army

they were the most amazing chapter id ever used but i lost the rules for them n the guy took the rules off the internet

Tommy_Gun June 22nd, 2007 07:58 AM

theres the movie marines rules somewhere on the internet, perhaps over atthe B&C forums that aims to make marines a hell of a lot more powerfull

Seig June 22nd, 2007 09:32 AM

wut are the B&C Forums?

n i miss usin the Stone Brothers they kicked major ass

Tommy_Gun June 22nd, 2007 11:59 AM

The Bolter and Chainsword
here
I did a search today though but i couldnt find anything.

[-x-JP-x-] est 1990 [EMO] June 25th, 2007 10:10 AM

doenst sound very realisitc, the grey knights used to be 12 models in a thousand point army and they pwned all rawrly

but of course noone liked playing them and an army like that was very easy to collect and hard to use effectively

Isaac2pointO July 11th, 2007 11:58 PM

My fave army is the Imperial Guard, huge diversity, very big and interesting back story and I enjoy the special need for more strategy since they are not nearly as durable as any other army, plus I'm an artillery man and they have the best artillery available of all the armies plus grenade launchers (a weapon no other race has) and Stormtroopers pwn

[-x-JP-x-] est 1990 [EMO] July 13th, 2007 02:02 AM

i like the idea of an all infantry impeial guard army, it would just be so damn huge it would be a lot of fun to play with, especially with the drop troop rules, you just swarm them with overbearing firepower. and if they were all on footm then you would be able to have squards with enopugh firepower to kill the whole army very quickly

suburiboy July 27th, 2007 01:34 PM

i use nids. they have many options. stealers have s 5 a 2 i 6 ws 6! they also fleet and rend. they kill in close combat(16 pt{not cheap}) hive mind makes all nids pass ld tests nids rock

Tommy_Gun July 27th, 2007 01:35 PM

I. Hate. Genestealers

suburiboy July 28th, 2007 07:06 AM

why botther

tommy, you hate them because they are the only nids under 20pt that can damage sm?
or do you have a better reason?

Tommy_Gun July 28th, 2007 07:15 AM

36 rending attacks against 5 marines. Poor little guys didnt stand a chance

Ragnar July 28th, 2007 09:13 AM

The way to beat 'Nids = Blast Weaponry + Flamers. Well, thats how I would do it.

My favourite army is the Tau, simply due to the massive amount of firepower they can dish out each turn. And they look sweet, I loved mecha anime, Tau are really to me just a physical extension of that.

And also, Tau railgun submunitions against Hormagaunts and Genestealers (I think) kills instantly on a 2+, though that might only be the Gaunts. And its an ordnance blast. So jus keep the hammerheads on the move, firing away.

Or move into someplace defendable, force them into a bottleneck where you can focus the fire. That would be my way.

that is always the way to kill nid troops. tau are weak in close and fw only have 2ws 3bs. nid do a killfest in close
